Steiger Model 105 #2

Douglas Steiger sold this tractor to Lloyd Pierce for $5000 on March 28, 1963. George Schaaf purchased the tractor in 2007. The sales bill says this tractor is "Serial Number 2." No serial number plate is on the tractor. Photographs taken in Rantoul, Illinois at the Chanute Air Force Base in October 2016.

1920 IH 15-30 Titan

1920 International Harvester 15-30 Titan Serial Number: EC3393 Nickname: ''Flaming Four'' Weight: 8,990 lbs. Production of the International 15-30 tractor began in 1918 and continued into 1921. This model used a four-cylinder engine with a 5 ¼ x 8 inch bore and stroke with a speed rating of 575 rpm. In 1918, the list price was $1,900. Typical of IH tractors at the time, the 15-30 was over-engineered. While the engine has four cylinders, the tractor has seven different carburetors. One was used to start the engine on gasoline. Once the engine was running, it switched over and ran through four kerosense carburetors. Two more carburetors managed water injection while the engine was running on kerosene. This example was originally mechanically refurbished by Louis Buice and Ray Miller of Georgetown, Texas. The tractor has since been fully restored. Owned and operated by the Buice family of Waco, Texas.

1921 Rumely Oil Pull 30-60 Model E

Rumely Oil Pull had one of the most repsected engines in farm tractors, and earned that reputation with solid reliability, power that exceeded the advertised ratings, and by burning cheap fuel (kerosene). The two-cylinder engine had a 10-inch bore and 12-inch stroke and ran at 375 rpm. The tractor weighs 26,000 pounds and sold for $4,300 in 1918. Owned and operated by Buice Family in Waco, Texas.

Cleaning the floor required constant work. The floor was repainted during the week-long shoot, despite our best efforts to keep it clean.
