  • I found this truck in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. I was riding my VFR800, so I shot it quickly (1/800th at F13) and got out of there!

  • Peter Peil and I were headed north on the Dalton Highway, about 150 miles north of the Arctic Circle. This photo was taken in July 2005 on an unusually warm 60-degree day. The weather turned that night, and the temperature was 33 degrees with light snow falling when we drove back south on this road the following day. Shot with Fuji Velvia.

  • Punsand Bay on the northernmost tip of Australia. Shot in August 2000 on Fuji Velvia. The only way to ride to this remote location is to cross 500 miles of dirt road. Swimming is prohibited because the waters are infested with sharks, jellyfish, and saltwater crocodiles. That's Mark Frederick again, on Warwick Schuberg's XR400.

  • Snow-testing tires in Mattawa, Ontario on March 17, 2006. The snow was six feet deep two weeks prior to the test. An early thaw knocked down the snow to about three feet in depth. We could ride but had to use tracked ATVs to tow us out when we got stuck (which happened often). 1/90th at f22.
